1971 gründete Doldinger die Jazzband Passport, die in den folgenden Jahrzehnten in wechselnder Besetzung immer wieder auf Welttournee ging. Zur Gründungsbesetzung gehörte auch Udo Lindenberg am Schlagzeug. Bereits das zweite Album "Second Passport" wurde 1973 ein Charterfolg. 1976 und 1981 wurde die Gruppe von der Jury des Deutschen Schallplattenpreises zu "Künstlern des Jahres" in der Kategorie Ensemble Pop National gewählt.Der Jazzmusiker schuf unter anderem die berühmten Titelmelodien für den ARD-"Tatort" und für das Weltkriegs-Kinoepos "Das Boot".

Udo Lindenberg fait partie des membres fondateurs, à la batterie. Dès 1973, le deuxième album « Second Passport » connaît un grand succès. En 1976 et 1981, le groupe a été élu « Artiste de l'année » dans la catégorie Ensemble pop national par le jury du Prix allemand du disque.
Le musicien de jazz a notamment composé les célèbres génériques de la série policière « Tatort » diffusée sur la chaîne ARD et du film épique sur la Seconde Guerre mondiale « Das Boot ».

In 1971, Doldinger founded the jazz band Passport, which toured the world repeatedly over the following decades with a changing line-up. Udo Lindenberg was also part of the original line-up on drums. The second album, “Second Passport,” was a chart success in 1973. In 1976 and 1981, the group was voted “Artists of the Year” in the National Pop Ensemble category by the jury of the German Record Prize.
Among other things, the jazz musician created the famous theme tunes for the ARD crime series “Tatort” and for the World War II cinema epic “Das Boot.”
